Session Title: Clean Hydrogen Systems for on-board and off-board Applications

As a clean energy, hydrogen is becoming an increasingly critical part of a sustainable energy portfolio. In fact, many countries are accelerating the research and development of clean hydrogen systems. While significant progress has been made in the development of hydrogen energy, certain challenges remain. Among others, the cost of hydrogen is still relatively high, the use of hydrogen as a long-term energy storage technology is premature, and the adoption of hydrogen as the sole or main power source in the transporation sector is not as rapid as expected. The objective of this special session is to bring together professionals working on clean hydrogen systems for on-board (e.g., vehicles and ships) and off-board (e.g., microgrids and power grids) applications to address some of the key challenges in this area. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Hydrogen production, transport, storage, and utilization.
  • Fuel cell modeling, characterization, aging, degradation, and diagnostics.
  • Power devices and electronics for hydrogen and hybrid systems (e.g., fuel cell/battery and fuel cell/supercapacitor).
  • Sizing, control, and optimization of hydrogen and hybrid systems (e.g., fuel cell/battery and fuel cell/supercapacitor).
  • Integration of hydrogen systems and renewable energy systems (e.g., photovoltaic and wind).
